All four of her sons were at her bedside, she was 75. Born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY on June 1931, she was the daughter of Otto and Edythe Tollefsen. Ruth was employed as bookkeeper and then voted District Treasurer for Sachem School District the 1960's through the 1980's. She was employed as bookkeeper for many years at the Lobster Inn and Seaford Market in the Hamptons.

She loved John's Lutheran Church, Holbrook, and was Church Treasurer. Ruth enjoyed the Fine Arts. She was an artisan with the ability to paint, sculpt and draw. Her later collection of art pieces were of Norwegian rosemaling. She was an accomplished homemaker and mother, raising four sons and was a loving wife of 56 years to husband Bill.

Always the loving teacher, he instilled in his children the importance of higher education through his support and encouragement. He was very proud of all his childrens' achievements.

He was born October 14, 1948 in Flushing, New York to Patrick and Irene Gregory Farrell. Gerard was a graduate of the University of Houston, 6-years of services in the Marine Corp Reserves and a member of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church.

Gerry was a loyal and dedicated employee of Exxon Mobil Corporation for over 38 years. His transfer from New York Houston in 1970 was the beginning of a career of traveling the world supporting various drilling operations. Gerry was especially fond of Africa where he spent the last fifteen years rotating to Nigeria, Angola and Chad. His family and friends will remember his loyalty, his sense of humor, his of Mexican food and his courage during the last four months of life. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Patrick Gerard Farrell, and brother Patrick Edwin Farrell, Jr.

NEWINS Horace DeWitt, a prominent businessman who was well known for his deep devotion to his country, his church, community, family and friends, passed away on February 14, 2007 at Sterling Glen in Bay Shore at the age of 99. The son of the late Robert DeWitt Newins and Alice Overton Newins, he was born in Patchogue on October 24, 1907. He graduated from Patchogue Union School in 1922. He was predeceased by his loving wife Allene B. Frisse Newins of 62 years in 1994, and also his two sisters Ethel May Smith and Roberta Elizabeth Stocks.

He is survived by his devoted daughter Carolyn and her husband Robert Denny of Warwick, NY, four grandchildren Karen DeWitt Denny, David Michael Denny, Clare Marie Williams, and Brian Gerard Denny, and also three great grandchildren Sarah DeWitt, Connor Hall, and Grace Marie. He was entrepreneur of Newins Bay Shore Ford, which he owned and operated very successfully for over 50 years. He was a faithful parishoner of St. Patrick RC Church Bayshore. He was an incredibly trusted advisor as he was President of the New York Ford Dealers Association for many years and received numerous awards.

He was a director of the Bay Shore Chamber of Commerce, president of the Lions Club of Bay Shore, and a member of the Southward Ho Country Club since 1947. When he moved to the Admiralty in 1972, he became their president for 15 years. He was a gentleman of few words, but with much care and understanding for everyone. His loves were his wife and family, boating, golf, and his business. He left this world a better place.
